Leonidas Collection does it right

Beautifully curated. As a long-time collector, I can say their pricing is very fair.

About our Heirloom Rugs
What does “heirloom rug” mean?

At Leonidas Collection, heirloom refers to rugs chosen for their heritage, craftsmanship, and cultural significance. Our heirloom collection includes both antique and vintage rugs that demonstrate enduring traditional value, regardless of exact age.

Are your heirloom rugs one of a kind?

Yes. Every rug we offer is a one-of-a-kind piece. Because these rugs are hand-woven using traditional methods, no two are ever identical—once a rug is sold, it cannot be replaced.

What is the difference between antique and vintage rugs?

Antique rugs are typically over 100 years old, while vintage rugs generally date from the 20th century. Both are traditionally hand-knotted and regionally authentic; the difference lies primarily in age, not quality or craftsmanship.

Are vintage and antique rugs durable enough for everyday use?

Yes. Many vintage and antique rugs were woven for daily life and are remarkably durable. Vintage rugs, in particular, are well-suited for active homes, while antique rugs are best placed where their age and patina can be appreciated with care.

Craftsmanship & Origin
Are your rugs authentic to their regions?

Yes. All of our rugs originate from historically recognized weaving regions—such as Persia, Anatolia, the Caucasus, Central Asia, and East Asia—and reflect the materials, motifs, and techniques native to those areas.

Are these rugs hand-knotted or machine-made?

All heirloom, antique, and vintage rugs in our collection are hand-knotted using traditional weaving techniques. This process gives each rug its unique character, variation, and longevity.

Do you restore or alter your rugs?

We focus on preservation rather than alteration. Rugs may be professionally cleaned or stabilized, but we do not over-restore or modify original designs.

Why do some rugs show color variation or uneven patterning?

Subtle color shifts and pattern variation—often referred to as abrash—are natural results of hand-dyed wool and handmade production. These details are considered signs of authenticity and add depth and individuality to each piece.

Purchasing an Heirloom Rug
Will the rug I see online be the exact rug I receive?

Yes. The rug photographed and described is the exact piece you will receive. Because each rug is one of a kind, listings are never duplicated.

Are these rugs suitable for modern interiors?

Absolutely. Traditional rugs pair beautifully with contemporary spaces, adding warmth, texture, and contrast.

How do I choose the right size or shape?

Select a size based on how the rug will anchor your space—larger rugs for seating areas, runners for hallways, and smaller rugs for layering.

Can I return a rug if it doesn’t work in my space?

We understand that choosing a rug is personal. Please refer to our return policy for full details on eligibility and timelines.
